Becoming a leading brand in the French organic cosmetics market, Melvita offers a fresh and sparkling marketing. As you may know, I became a consumer of Melvita’s products, and today I’d like to bring you into their world!

A fascinating history

We are in 1977, when Bernard Chevilliat, a former biology student, creates a beekeeping farm in Ardèche. 6 years later, he decided to increase his income by diversifying his activities. The idea was to develop a first range of cosmetics from hive products (soap, floral water, cream) : the company Melvita is officially created and is positioned on the organic cosmetics market. In 2002, the laboratories obtained Ecocert organic certification and offer a 100% French production. By the way, the origin of the name Melvita comes from ‘Mel’ for honey and ‘Vita’ for life in Latin as you’ll see, honey is a key ingredient of the brand.

An organic brand with ecological values

The products are labeled Cosmebio and certified by Ecocert, which means that at least 95% of the ingredients are of natural origin. In addition, the brand focuses on never using harmful and polluting ingredients and with a Cruelty-free policy.

Did you know that Melvita promotes the use of recyclable materials for its packaging? You can read my article about it called “Sustainable packaging”.

Between sparkling marketing and multi-age brand

The Ardéchoise brand targets a female population, with an average age ranging from post-students to mature women. Melvita products have an excellent quality/price ratio, offering organic products at very reasonable prices and with a nice packaging. Concerning the axis of their communication, they talk about their products, but also about the company, the nature, their environment around their factory in Ardèche, their ethics, and the quality of their raw materials, especially with honey, rose petals, but also argan oil, among others.

Melvita belonging to the group L'Occitane, which is not all organic, makes me sometimes doubt the goal of the brand: increase its revenues or offer quality products? Let us not forget that Melvita remains a brand with very good values. They keep on improving their work on the environment, recycling the materials they use, and the ingredients. Many of the ingredients are noble, come from French cultures or fair trade. All of this makes Melvita an exceptional organic brand with good products, and accessible prices! Finally, Melvita is strongly committed to giving more credibility to organic cosmetics.

The message they want to convey is the following:

"Organic is not less effective, it is simply less fast. Taking care of your health and nature, while benefiting from quality products? We made the choice of patience, and you?"
